Olvera Street is beautiful on Saturday mornings. It was even more striking because of the lovely company I had on this particular day. I recently had the opportunity to photograph my good friend Rosemary, her husband Neto and her daughter, Sofia. I know Rosemary because we both taught at the same school for years. Although our shoot was a little shorter than I had hoped, it seems Sofia was definitely a little sleepy because we started early in the day. Regardless, we definitely had a wonderful time exploring the different parts of Olvera Street. And Sofia got the cutest puppy dog toy that I think will definitely be with her for a while. I think by far my favorite element of the shoot was when we changed Sofia into a more traditional Mexican dress. She definitely did seem like a vieja as she walked around with the shawl wrapped around her shoulders. With her huge brown eyes, amazing baby skin and chub cheeks, Sofia is too precious! Rosemary is such a fun person to spend time with…time passes really quickly when talking with her. And though the whole conversation is quite intelligent we somehow always find ways to joke and laugh throughout. I feel so lucky to have such wonderful friends in my life and I thank Rosemary and Neto for allowing me to be part of their life for the day. Hopefully we have many more such days ahead of us.
