Jana’s life is a saga of resilience and adaptation. From creatively unconventional beginnings—using dolls for architectural experiments—to becoming a graphic designer, she’s been fueled by a hunger for knowledge. Her dedication to family and faith has been unwavering, guiding her through diverse interests and roles.
Moving to Nashville was a pivotal shift, testing her resolve amid new challenges and marital strains. Despite setbacks, she found her footing in community service, eventually diving into commercial real estate. From an unexpected journey in appraising to founding a successful brokerage, she now thrives in Nashville’s business landscape, utilizing her creativity and problem-solving skills in commercial real estate. Her story embodies resilience, evolution, and an unwavering pursuit of fulfillment.

What are your achievements and hobbies?
My church, volunteering for the community, Tennessee Immigrant and Minority Business Group, Tennessee American Chinese Chamber of Commerce, genealogy, making jewelry, exercising, Foreign Language films on streaming services, learning about other cultures, studying world religions, science, psychology, investment strategies and wandering around Tennessee, painting, wearing hats, collecting cowboy boots, beginning golfer, target shooting, listening to podcasts and self-improvement, Word Games
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Living as artfully as I can every day.
What is your personal motto?
Noble purpose, Clean mind, open heart, willing hands.
What is something that matters to you?
- I give huge importance given to humor.
- Willingness to learn new things.
- Willingness to step outside my comfort levels.
- To not accept that just because I am good at one thing, that doesn’t mean I can’t be good at something else.
- The patience with myself to not be good at something until I am.
What quote defines you?

What advice would you give to your 18 year old self?
- Forgive yourself earlier.
- No amount of accomplishment or physical beauty can earn God’s love. It is freely given, just be open to it.
- If you are female, no one else can define what being feminine is or not. That is up to you.
- I have never regretted being kind.
- Train your brain to be positive and to love. It is a choice.
- Don’t wait for someone else to solve your problems.
- Be grateful every day.
- And most importantly, “Don’t take yourself or life too seriously. Laugh!”
What would you like your legacy to be?
Another Ralph Waldo Emerson sums it up “To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. Have you been professionally photographed before? By whom? Describe your experience.
I have been professionally photographed before many time but most of the time it is for a specific purpose and not focused on my own comfort or appearance.
When you look at your final portraits for the 40 over 40 project, how do feel about yourself?
I am so grateful for the way Fizzah captures the real me. She helped me feel relaxed and confident and I think it comes through in my photos.
