Read what one of our clients, Jessica, had to say about her experience with the women in their 40’s photoshoot and why she wanted to be part of this confidence-boosting experience!

A Little About Jessica’s Background and Life

Jessica feels very lucky for the life that she’s lived so far and believes that she has her exceptionally hard working parents to thank for that. Jessica’s parents moved to a brand new country (Kuwait) with no job, no place to live, and barely 300 dollars in their pocket. They worked hard for their success and their bravery inspires her to this day. They even endured a war.

Jessica’s parents made sure higher education was a priority as they never had the opportunity to go to college. That’s why when it came time to go to college, she picked up and moved around the world to the middle of the United States! (In her defense, the college brochure described Omaha, NE as a big city! Boy was she shocked when I got off the plane!)

Jessica worked hard because 1) She has always wanted to be a doctor and 2) she wanted to make her parents as proud of her as she is of them.

Q+A with Jessica:

Why was being part of the women in their 40’s photoshoot important to you?

I wanted to capture a the very special friendship I have with my bestie, Pavnit. We’ve known each other since we were 18 years old and she’s my family. I figured, why not? Let’s get some pretty pictures and some professional headshots too!

What is your profession?

Physician

What are your achievements and hobbies?

Boy, was residency tough. I’ll put that up there as an achievement.

In my non-doctoring time, I love to foster giant breed dogs. In the last couple of years, my home has seen Great Danes, Great Pyrenees , Newfoundland’s, Bullmastiffs and others.

I do have two Great Danes of my own. They have also had their own professional photography session.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

At the risk of sounding one note, being a physician. I love it. It was difficult to accomplish but going into work everyday gives me joy.

What is your personal motto?

“Looking for happiness is the surest way to sadness, I think. You have to take each moment as it comes.” – Benedict Cumberbatch

What is something that matters to you?

Family, friendships, my dogs, traveling

What quote defines you?

Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today.

What advice would you give to your 18 year old self?

Stop worrying about what everyone else thinks.

What would you like your legacy to be?

I’d like to set up a scholarship so more students can go to medical school. There’s been less interest due to high cost of education and the overall time commitment leading to a decline in physician providers in this country.

What are 3 words that define you?

Trustworthy, loving, adventurous

When you look at your final portraits, how do feel about yourself? What words would you use to describe the woman in the portrait?

Beautiful (and sexy), confident, kind.
