Have you ever wanted to have a photoshoot (just for you) that makes you feel like the most confident version of yourself? If so, then you’re the perfect candidate for an empowering photoshoot! And it’s no secret that they’re one of my favorite things to facilitate for women!
If you’re on the fence about booking your own photoshoot, here are seven reasons why you should absolutely do it!
Ketsia’s Empowering Photoshoot
Before we dive into the tips, I want to share a bit about my beautiful client, Ketsia, and her empowering photoshoot. She’s a Pediatric Radiologist (M.D.), a single mom of two little boys, plays the piano beautifully, and is a badass woman! She’s multifaceted, like many women!
Ketsia wanted something more meaningful than a typical photo session. She wanted a fun photoshoot experience and portraits to remind her that she is beautiful, strong, and a survivor!
She practices Krav Maga regularly to keep her body strong. If you haven’t heard of Krav Maga, it’s a military self-defense and fighting system. And while her body is strong (and gorgeous), she wanted photos that also explore her soft and delicate sides too.
The vision for her shoot was personal – to reconnect with herself and reclaim a side of herself that she had missed! I think many women can relate to Ketsia’s story.

Keep reading for details about each specific reason. I bet you’ll be surprised by the last two!
Celebrate Your Life And How Far You’ve Come
In my personal opinion – as women, we don’t give ourselves permission to celebrate ourselves enough, and that needs to change!
We’re bosses, employees, managers, caregivers, mothers, wives, and jugglers of schedules. And if you’re anything like me, everyone’s needs come before my own.
To the corporate boss babes, the woman wearing yoga pants, the woman carrying a child on one hip, and a laundry basket on the other. I see you, and I AM you!
It’s time to celebrate your life, all sides of you, and how far you’ve come!
All of the transformations you’ve gone through to become the woman you are today – celebrate it all!
Celebrate A Milestone Birthday or Life Transformation
Milestone birthdays (or any birthday) are reason enough to pause and reflect. Celebrate a milestone birthday with an empowering photoshoot, just for you!
Pause for a moment to celebrate all of your trips around the sun! Each year is a blessing, and so much personal growth can happen in just a year’s time.
Feel Empowered with a Confidence Boost and Day of Pampering
These sessions are designed to help you feel more confident and beautiful. They provide a safe environment where you can relax, enjoy yourself, and, dare I say it – HAVE FUN! (Queue the Cindi Lauper song, Girls just want to have fun!)
Your confidence will soar with a complete makeover, wardrobe styling, and professional posing!
You can feel sexy, empowered, or even like a badass! However you want to be represented and remembered, you can have it all in a personalized shoot.
An empowering photoshoot is going to be life-changing for your self-confidence!
It’s a Beautiful Act of Self-Love (For Parents: Your Kids Need This Role Modeled)
When you see yourself reflected in portraits that someone else took, you see firsthand what someone else sees. This can initiate the beginning of a radical form of self-acceptance and self-love.
These photos remind you of your strength, beauty, and help you take control of your body image. A personalized photoshoot allows you to slow down, if only for a day, and love and appreciate yourself. They’re the perfect way to gift yourself some self-care.
If you’re a parent – this is the perfect way to role model self-love to your children. Lead by example and show them that it’s beautiful to celebrate yourself. By yourself. For yourself.
Can you imagine what it would’ve felt like to have your mother show you confident, sexy, empowering portraits of her as a young woman? I’m guessing it would’ve felt electrifying!
Be a self-love guru for yourself and model it for your children! They’re always watching.
And don’t forget to display your portraits proudly. Ketsia ordered these beautiful wall art portraits, and they are a constant reminder to herself (and her children) of the strength, power, and beauty that she embodies!
Begin a Legacy with Portraits
Raise your hand if you buy school photos for your children each year! Don’t worry, I’m the same way, and I’m a photographer!
My point here is that as parents, we easily schedule family photos and buy photos of our children each year. But we don’t usually schedule time for our own portraits unless there’s a specific occasion. Even then, the occasion is likely a photoshoot for business or family reasons.
But what if the occasion is simply you, being you? Leaving a legacy of beautiful portraits of you IS the reason for a photoshoot!
The quote, “Time is our greatest currency,” rings more true the older I get. We’re never promised tomorrow. So please consider getting in the frame for you and your loved ones to begin a legacy with portraits.
Reclaim Sides of Yourself Buried Under Years of Responsibilities
Ready for a fun and probably unexpected part? The unraveling and peeling back layers and years of responsibilities can be eye-opening!
Before your photoshoot, try looking through older photos of yourself and get in touch with a younger version of yourself. The one with fewer responsibilities. Who was she? What did she like to do for fun? Did she feel sexy? What were her ambitions?
Try to journal a little bit about the way a younger you acted and moved throughout the day. And then channel that energy on the day of your photoshoot!
I’m not saying to disregard who you are today – I want you to celebrate her!
But it’s also helpful for some women to reconvene with a more carefree, playful version of themselves during their photoshoot!
Try it – I bet you’ll have some fun memories pop up!
There’s No Such Thing As “Perfect Timing”
So often, we put our lives on hold while waiting for the “perfect time” to do things.
We tell ourselves that we’ll finally be happy when we have more money, lose those last few pounds, or when our circumstance changes. But what if there was no perfect time?
What if the only way to achieve happiness and fulfillment was to start taking steps towards it now? That’s where empowering photoshoots come in.
These photoshoots are a great way to boost your confidence and remind yourself that you’re capable of anything!
Perfect timing is a myth, a pot of gold we’re desperately searching for at the end of a rainbow.
The perfect time is right now. Today. Seize the moment in front of you!
Here’s to you, badass babe! You are capable of anything!
Whether you’re looking to commemorate a milestone birthday or just want a boost of self-love and confidence, an empowering photoshoot is a perfect way to celebrate all that you are!
