Noreen and Moin are among the top five of my favorite couples of all time. Really! Whenever I spend time with them I feel like I’m hanging out with two friends that fell in love and married each other. We talk about all sorts of things – books, politics, movies, current events, religion, and politics – while still somehow managing to effortlessly joke around. I can honestly say that neither one of them has a pretentious bone in their body. I love that! They are just really super easy to hang out with and talk to. And best of all, they never make a single girl like me feel like the odd one out. I can’t tell you how refreshing that is!
I was lucky enough to have the privilege to photograph Noreen and Moin’s first child, Zia. Though only a few days old, I could already see how alert he was while awake. He has the most beautiful eyes that just seem to want to take in this new world he’s become part of. While asleep, Zia was quite the mover He kept stretching and twisting to find the most comfortable position. All at the same time, he looked like a newborn and an old man. Is that possible? Maybe I’m the only one who sees that in newborn boys. I saw it in my nephews…something about the way they moved and looked felt like they were little old men.
Anyways, I want to thank Noreen, Moin and their families for being so warm and welcoming during the whole shoot. They have been quite supportive and I can’t thank them enough. In fact, though I had photographed children before, Zia marks my first newborn shoot! Here are some of my favorite photographs:
